The Gecko Gallop 5K 2008 was run this Saturday at 7A on Hickam AFB. The race started at Head Quarters PACAF building parking lot. The race course runs along the the freedom tower and along the bikepath where there are beautiful views of Pearl Harbor. The course is and out and back and there is a cone to turn around after 3/4 of a mile along the bike path.

The Gecko showed up at sunrise to excite 115 runners before the race. The 2008 Gecko 5K race results had age division awards given out by the Gecko.

Free strawberry smoothies were given out as refreshments after the race. Random prize drawings included various DVDs and art work. The awards were beautiful surfboards trophies for the overall winners and medals for age division winners. Ben Fulk was the race director and he organized a wonderful event that all runners in Hawaii should experience. The race director also did an exceptional job including young athletes to do the 5K.
