The Valentines Day Biathlon was held on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 7:30A. The rain for the past week had cleared to present a nice sunny morning. The run was 2.8 miles doing a loop around Ala Moana Park and Magic Island with the handoff near the Diamond Head lifeguard stand.

The half mile swim headed out Ewa for 400 meters around 2 orange bouys and then returned to the finish line near the Diamond Head lifeguard stand. This years race had about 100 participants doing the team run and then swim. This is one of the few races where instead of tagging your partner for the handoff, you can actually kiss them off before they run 20 meters into the water. Ala Moana Beach park is a nice place to swim with very little waves or surge because of a protected reef that keeps the water calm.

Race refreshments included trail mix in small plastic cups, various flavored muffins, bananas, water and gatoraid. The awards were beautifully crafted glasses with candy inside. The Waikiki Swim Club does an excellent job in putting on the race each year. This event is one of the few events where you recieve a long sleeve t-shirt for finishing. This years design had 2 fish kissing.
